The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) denied an amparo to Gustavo Cárdenas Fuentes, uncle of Luis Cárdenas Palomino, with whom he sought to evade a collection of 342 million pesos for taxes accumulated since 2015.

Cárdenas Fuentes is a businessman who has been linked as an alleged member of the corruption network headed by Genaro García Luna, with which more than 745 million dollars from the treasury would have been diverted.
According to investigations by the Tax Administration Service (SAT), Gustavo Cárdenas stopped paying 163 million pesos corresponding to taxes since 2015 and in 2016 filed an appeal to prevent the tax authority from entering his property and reviewing his accounts.

The amparo project with file number 3901/2021 was presented by Minister Luis María Aguilar and discussed at the session on June 14. Four of the five ministers that make up the Second Chamber voted against this appeal, so it will pass into the hands of Minister Loretta Ortiz Ahlf.
