Roberto Pianelli: “They don’t call us to dialogue”
Subway strike: union leaders on line D
Roberto Pianelli, Secretary General of the Subway and Premetro Workers Union Association (AGTSyP – Metrodelegados), spoke this Thursday about the measure of force that the union is carrying out, in a phased manner.
The representative of the workers’ sector assured that the subway concession company, Emova, did not call them to negotiate. “They do not call us to dialogue,” Pianelli said.
“In three months we have presented seven notes to summon us to dialogue, but they do not summon us. Last week, when there were no measures of force, they did not call us to dialogue either”, assured the General Secretary of AGTSyP.
Regarding the request to reduce the working day, Pianelli explained: “With those 36 hours what we discovered, when we began with the studies, we discovered that we have 87 cancer patients and 3 deaths. We are in a place that has such a risk that the exposure it has is too much”.
What does the concessionary company say about the new strike?
Emova regretted that the force measure affects “more than 900 thousand users”
The subway concessionaire company in the City of Buenos Aires, Emova, issued a statement in the last few hours, in which it regretted the forceful measure promoted by the Trade Union Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (AGTSyP – Metrodelegados), which affects “more than 900 thousand users”.
“It reaches not only the more than 900,000 users of the Buenos Aires Subway directly, but also those who need to travel throughout the City, since in this case it will impact two lines simultaneously for four and a half hours during the hours of greater demand ”, reads the Emova statement.
And he adds: “Given the inflexible stance adopted by the AGTSyP and the repeated measures, Emova continues to express its willingness to dialogue, but the reduction of the weekly workday from 36 to 30 hours is unfeasible without affecting the operating activities of the Subway network ”.
Regarding the presence of asbestos in the subway, the company explained: “Emova confirms that the more than 2,500 measurements carried out on air quality in all work areas of the subway yield results considered adequate for health. The measurements are carried out constantly and are carried out by specialized institutions and laboratories that were validated by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires”.
Subway strike: the staggered interruption of all lines and the Premetro began
The workers demand the reduction of the weekly working day from 36 to 30 hours and two weekly francs. The concessionaire company Emova, for its part, regretted that the force measure affects “more than 900 thousand users”
