During the general audience on Wednesday June 7, before his hospitalization, Pope Francis announced that he wanted to dedicate an apostolic letter to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (1873-1897), on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of her birth. “If his body was infirm, his heart was vibrant, missionary”, he recalled in his catechesis, before emphasizing how much the Church “needed hearts like (hers), hearts which draw to the love and draw closer to God”. The forthcoming publication – without a precise date yet – of such a text in memory of the Carmelite, made Doctor of the Church in 1997, responds to a request made by the diocese of Bayeux-Lisieux.
