Internazionale coach Simone Inzaghi is not afraid of Manchester City in the run-up to the Champions League final. The English champion and FA Cup winner will start the final battle in Istanbul on Saturday as the top favorite and can win the ball of millions for the first time in history.
“We have a lot of respect for Manchester City, but there is no fear. We are talking about a football match. You are afraid of murderers, not footballers,” Inzaghi said at a press conference on Monday.
Inter awaits the tough task in the final to stop City striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian goalscoring machine scored no less than 52 goals for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, 12 of which in the Champions League.
Inzaghi, 49, says Inter are not preparing for a game to stop Haaland alone, but the whole team. “It’s not Haaland against Inter, it’s Manchester City against Inter. There is a healthy tension, I can’t wait to get on the pitch with my boys.”
In 2010, Inter, with Wesley Sneijder in the base, won the ‘cup with the big ears’ for the last time. In 1964 and 1965 the ‘Nerazzurri’ won the European Cup I, which made way for the Champions League in 1992.
The Champions League final is scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
