Since May 12, Icetex announced a call for Colombians who wish to apply as Spanish teachers abroad. Those who are beneficiaries will be able to live a unique experience with various economic benefits. Applications are available until June 13.

The scholarship includes various benefits, such as health insurance and a stipend for your expenses in the host country. In exchange for these benefits, those selected must teach Spanish classes for 11 months at the universities of the West Indies (Jamaica), St. Augustine Campus (Trinidad and Tobago) and Cave Hill Campus (Barbado) located in the British West Indies.
The program will start in August 2023 and end in July 2024. Those selected are expected to already be in the Caribbean islands. The objective of the program is to strengthen the cultural exchange between both nations, which is why it is also expected to be an immersive experience in the Antillean culture.

Icetex explained that the call is aimed at language graduates, it will be valued positively if they have theatrical and artistic skills; since cultural activities will be developed in the university center, as well as knowledge in office automation.

Additionally, the applicant must be over 20 years of age and under 30 years of age; the academic average must be 3.7/5.0; have at least one year of professional experience after the degree as teachers in public or private institutions. Finally, have a good level of English (Michigan minimum score: 75%; English Test (MET): B2 or 53 to 63 points; IELTS: 5.5 or TOEFL IBT: 65 points).
“Teachers will provide their services for a maximum period of 18 hours per week. The receiving teaching center will provide them with access to courses and/or activities that allow them to perfect the language and knowledge of the culture of the respective country,” they pointed out from Icetex.

The grants are intended for different levels of training such as: bachelor’s, master’s and continuing education. In total, you can opt for one of the 169 programs available in 13 areas of knowledge. The scholarships include three types of support, some will cover 100% of the enrollment costs (47 places), others 75% (12) and 50% (141) of the cost.
The programs can be face-to-face, blended or virtual, depending on the characteristics of each training offer. Of the 169 offers, 125 places will be allocated to postgraduate studies, 42 for continuous training and the remaining five for undergraduate studies.
The training will be in charge of the institutions that make up the Planeta Formación y Universidades group, among which are: EAE Business School (Madrid and Barcelona campuses), Barcelona Culinary Hub, Esdesign, Iberonex, iFP Innovation in Vocational Training, INESDI Business Techschool, OBS Business School, Rome Business School, The Core School, UNIE University and the International University of Valencia (VIU).
