With the aim of encouraging citizen participation during the election day of this Sunday, June 4 in the State of Mexico, where the next governor will be elected, the National Chamber of Industry, Restaurants and Seasoned Foods (Canirac) announced that more than 2 thousand affiliated establishments will offer attractive promotions to their customers.

This is the ‘Go out to Vote’ initiative of the business organization, where as long as you have your finger inked and show your voter ID, you can have anything from a free drink to 50 percent discounts on food.
For example, in Starbucks and El Globo pastry shops they will give away a tall size coffee of the day, valid until 12:00 p.m. or while supplies last.

In the Italianni’s, PF Chang’s and Chilli’s chains, owned by Alsea, they seek to pamper their diners with a 200-peso discount with a minimum consumption of 600.

For its part, in Taquearte there will be a 10% discount on the total bill; while in The Cheesecake Factory the same percentage in the Oreo cake.
In this regard, Pablo Durán Gallastegui, president of Canirac in Edomex, stressed that every weekend gastronomic establishments receive an impressive number of 1.2 million people, and this “festival of democracy” will not be the exception.

It is important to remember that, according to Article 348 of the State Electoral Code, which was modified during the last election for governor, restaurants are not affected by the application of the Prohibition Law.

Therefore, Durán Gallastegui asked the municipalities to respect this provision and adhere to the Electoral Law and its modifications for the benefit of the restaurant sector.
“We urge the municipalities to comply with the Electoral Law and these modifications, which benefit the restaurant sector, in order to foster a cordial environment and maintain continuous operation by our sector,” declared Durán Gallastegui.
