ANPThe fire at the apartment building on Joan Muyskenweg in Amsterdam last night
NOS Nieuws•vandaag, 13:20
All 95 homes of the apartment complex on Joan Muyskenweg in Amsterdam are uninhabitable for the time being, reports the fire department. The damage to the complex is so great that it is not safe for residents to return to their homes. This also applies to homes with less damage.
The roof of the complex has been completely destroyed by the fire and some parts of the facade also need to be repaired. Due to the water damage, the electricity cannot yet be restored.
The fire broke out last night in the apartment complex near the A2 on the south side of the city. The fire was under control around 2:30 a.m.
Complaints about leaks
This morning there was a residents’ meeting where residents could go with their questions. Residents complained about previously reported leaks and electricity problems, NOS reporter Jeroen de Jager saw. “The biggest complaint you heard is that since the building was completed five years ago, there have been a lot of leaks.”
Nothing would have been done with the reports that the residents made about this and little response would have been received. The fire service will investigate whether the leaks are related to the outbreak of the fire.
Residents are allowed to remove their personal belongings from their apartment for fifteen minutes under supervision.
The residents are allowed to remove their belongings from their home under supervision in various phases:

It is not yet clear how long it will take to repair the apartments, according to the fire service. The cause of the fire has also not yet been determined.
