‘Del Barrio Producciones’ aims to promote Peruvian talent and national music through the first cumbia musical, entitled “La esquina de la cumbia”. The premiere of this exciting show is scheduled for July 21 at Plaza Norte.

The musical will feature prominent actors such as Santiago Suárez in the role of Fernando and Gretta Marston playing Elsa. The cast also includes Stephanie Orúe as Renata, Emilram Cossio as Elías, Silvia Bardales as Flor, Sergio Gjurinovic as Iván, Gianfranco Bustíos as the young singer Fernando, and Ale Muller as Elsa in her childhood. In addition, there will be live music and more than 20 artists on stage.

“La esquina de la cumbia” promises to revolutionize the genre of musicals during the National Holidays. Following the success of “Luz de Luna, La Aventura”, which had great success in its three seasons, this new show will combine romantic comedy, catchy music and love. The repertoire will include iconic songs from Peruvian cumbia such as “El arbolito”, “Ojitos hechiceros”, “El embrujo”, “Elsa”, “Mujer hilandera”, “El aguajal” and many other hits.

The family story will unfold through the most emblematic rhythms of cumbia and will follow the emotional story of Fernando, a low-income young man who fights for a better future for himself and to fulfill the dream of his parents, Flor and Elías: having a cumbia venue, his passion.

However, when they face adversity and must sell their house and the kiosk where Elías has worked all his life, something magical happens. The kiosk is filled with memories and music, as if it were a living time machine.

Motivated by that impulse and by reuniting with his childhood love, Elsa, Fernando will risk everything for his dreams and become the great cumbia singer he always dreamed of being.

The musical will be on the billboard from July 21 to August 20, and tickets are already available for purchase through the Joinnus platform, with prices starting at S/ 35.
