Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has extended his contract as technical manager with Ajax by four years. The former striker will mainly focus on the flow of youth players to the first team.
Huntelaar has been part of Ajax’s technical staff since March 2022. First he did the technical matters together with Gerry Hamstra, who has since left. Now he will be the right-hand man of Sven Mislintat, who started as technical director this summer.
In practice, the former player of Ajax, Schalke 04 and Real Madrid, among others, will mainly deal with the contracts of the youth players and the players of Young Ajax. Huntelaar will also be in contact with the scouting and report to Mislintat.
Huntelaar’s contract extension is a bright spot for Ajax in an otherwise turbulent period. Earlier this week, Edwin van der Sar decided to stop at Ajax after eleven years in the management, which finished disappointingly third this season and finished without prizes.
