According to Media Park Development, “serious infringements were committed of the competition rules to which an NV of Public Law such as VRT is bound and the Public Procurement Act was manifestly circumvented in a creative, yet illegal manner”.
Until a few weeks ago, the studios in Boortmeerbeek were among the last two contenders to bring in the production of “Thuis” by the summer of 2025 at the latest. “However, at the end of April 2023, Media Park Development was told – without any substantive motivation, nor on the basis of objective parameters – that the production of “Thuis” would not move to Boortmeerbeek”.
Media Park Development has engaged Professor of Public Procurement Steven Van Garsse and Master Simon Verhoeven to assist them in the legal dispute.
The absolute nullity of the so-called ‘outsourcing’ would mean that the outsourcing to the external production company would be reversed, and that the cast and crew of the soap opera would return to the VRT, it sounds.
