A West London woman who lost her husband to a brain tumor in December 2021 granted her husband’s dearest wish, who wanted to expand the family at all costs, by giving birth to their 16-month-old daughter after his death.
“Aman was over the moon with [notre fils] Rajan but always said “I have one from me and it would be nice to have one from you too”. I know he would have loved our daughter. It’s such a shame that he can never meet her,” Jadsip Sumal told “The Independent” on Wednesday.
In August 2020, Aman Sumal, then 35, began suffering from seizures and headaches, before being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, leaving him only between 12 and 18 months to live. .
But the father of the family was determined to welcome a second child to complete the family, after having welcomed a first boy via in vitro fertilization in 2019.
“I thought [commencer les démarches] while he was still here. I knew he didn’t have long and thought it would be great news to tell him. […] but he died in December 2021 and after that, I experienced my mourning for having lost him”, she indicated.
To achieve her wish, she decided to take the steps several months later, before becoming pregnant in August 2022. Bittersweet, she finally welcomed their daughter, Amandeep, at the beginning of April.
“It was always the plan to have a sibling for Rajan, and it was really important for Aman too, so I decided so I decided to go ahead. Aman was so strong during what was an incredibly difficult time and I knew nothing I would do would be harder than this,” the woman continued to the British media.
Every year, more than 16,000 citizens are said to be diagnosed with a tumor in the UK, and only 12% of them survive beyond 5 years, according to charity data reported by ‘The Independent’.
