Good morning! Defense is getting a special anti-drone unit. And today is Alpe d’HuZes, the annual event on the French Alpe d’Huez in which money is raised for cancer research in a sporting way.
First the weather: during the morning hours there is a lot of cloud cover. During the day the sun breaks through more and more often in the center and south, only in the north the clouds remain stubborn. It will be 14 to 16 degrees in the north and 17 to 21 degrees elsewhere.

What can you expect today?
The Royal Netherlands Army is setting up a new air defense unit against drones. The founding ceremony is this morning in Vredepeel. It is the start of a series of changes to strengthen Dutch air defenses. A new edition of the Flora Batava, the reference work of plants in the Netherlands, is being published. The book is a reissue of the 28-part book series that appeared between 1800 and 1934. The presentation of the Flora Batava is at 3.30 pm in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek The Hague. And it is getting busy with Dutch people on the Alpe d’Huez. About 5000 participants cycle, run or walk up the French mountain to raise money for cancer research and to improve the quality of life of people with cancer.

A quarter of young adults in the Netherlands are overweight, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports. 7 percent are even seriously overweight (obese).
The percentage of overweight children and young people has risen in recent years. In 2014, 15 percent of 2 to 24-year-olds were overweight, in 2022 this will be 17 percent. Of young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, 21 percent were overweight in 2014 and 25 percent in 2022. The proportion of young people with obesity has remained the same since 2014.
