Several window cleaners who work informally at traffic lights have become a problem for the authorities in the country, because some of them react violently against drivers when they refuse to give them coins for cleaning the panoramic glass of the cars. vehicles or in some cases come to confront each other for the tips they receive.

A case of this nature was recorded on the afternoon of May 30 in Medellín, where several window cleaners staged a fight on Avenida 80 with Calle 35, a fact that was recorded with their cell phones by several drivers who were waiting for the color change of the traffic light.

In one of the videos that was published on social networks, it is evident how several of the young people were getting into an argument, separated by several cars that were waiting for the traffic light to turn green, however, when this happened, the vehicles did not they were able to start because several of the window cleaners gathered in the middle of the road to hit one of them.

After at least four of those involved hit the young man who was the center of the attacks, he decided to get away from the road corridor, thereby allowing the cars to continue on their way, but the fight did not end there, since after Avoiding several blunt objects that were thrown at him, the young man approached the traffic light where he had his items to look for an artifact that is not seen in the images.

This caused the other window cleaners to move away from this area, running again towards the middle of the avenue, thereby causing several of the vehicles to have to brake suddenly so as not to end up running over these people.

Witnesses to the event affirmed that the conflict did not end until uniforms from the Medellin Metropolitan Police approached the place, for which reason several of the residents of the area and drivers who frequently take Avenida 80 have requested that there be a greater presence. of uniformed workers in the sector, since this would not be the first problem faced by informal workers.

Citizens residing in the area told local media that the problem would have started due to a dispute over some coins that were delivered by one of the drivers passing through the road corridor, in addition to the fact that the most recurrent cases of violence are recorded due to the number of glass cleaners that are located on 80 avenue, so several end up fighting for control of the area to work.

In addition to the fact that several of the window cleaners would repeatedly react violently when citizens who travel by car do not allow them to clean the panoramic glass of the vehicles, which is why there have been several cases of intolerance in which drivers have ended up injured.

One of the most prominent was recorded on the 33rd street roundabout in the Plaza Mayor sector, where a window cleaner stabbed a driver in the head after he refused to hand him coins.

However, this subject did not manage to escape, since a police patrol was passing through the road corridor and the uniformed officers managed to immediately capture the aggressor, who was prosecuted and left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office; In the same way, the driver was helped by the agents and transferred to a medical center in the sector.

“This procedure occurs at the moment that a person who was passing through the sector is attacked by another man who is dedicated to cleaning windows on public roads. The timely information from the community allowed the quadrant patrol to capture and prosecute the aggressor. He was left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the crime of personal injury, ”said Captain Manuel Tovar in this regard.
