Neighbors of Almoloya ask for justice for the alleged poisoning of 15 dogs

The State of Mexico made the news again due to an act of animal abuse; this time in the municipality of Almoloya de Juárez.

And it is that in the last hours a complaint went viral through Facebook about the alleged poisoning of 15 dogs, both home and on the street, as well as a cacomixtle, a sheep and several birds, which also died.

According to the user “Ned FT”, who shared several images of the corpses, the events occurred on Sunday, May 28, on 16 de Septiembre street, between Chapultepec and Nevado, in the community of San Francisco Tlalcilalcalpan.

He accused that the animals ingested a preparation of agrochemicals and corn fertilizer, which a neighbor on the street supposedly prepared, which was placed in pieces of roasted chicken and thrown at different points on a farmland. Of the 15 dead dogs, three were his property:

“A community veterinarian was inquired about who commented that it is a preparation of agrochemical products and fertilizer for planting”

“Inside the home, it has unfavorably ended the life of three paths; however, the neighbors have been affected as well,” she added.

He even assured that these planting chemicals have also affected other species, whose smell is perceptible in the area. “Birds of the place have died like birds, since they eat the poison and die; the preparation is harmful to health since a stench is perceived within the area that irritates the eyes and causes discomfort in general, ”she warned.

This act of animal abuse has already been denounced (folio 2808) by the neighbors before the Attorney for Environmental Protection of the State of Mexico (Propaem) and the municipal authorities in order to investigate the facts and do justice, since the death of dogs in the area has been constant in recent months.

They also requested that the Health Directorate of the municipality of Almoloya de Juárez support the collection of contaminated waste.

This complaint was released a day after a former police officer from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City was arrested for having killed a dog named “Scooby” last weekend in Tecamac, Edomex, after he he threw it into a saucepan with boiling oil.

According to the owner of a butcher shop, the subject, identified as Sergio “N”, did it to intimidate him into closing his business for extortion.

Article 235 Bis of the Penal Code of the State of Mexico indicates that the person found guilty of causing malicious injury to any animal or even causing its death, will be arrested and prosecuted.

In this entity, the sanction is from six months to four years in prison, as well as a fine of 150 to 300 days of minimum wage; that is, from 30 thousand to 60 thousand pesos, approximately.

In the event that sexual acts against animals are committed, it will be punished with a penalty of six months to four years in prison and a fine of 50 to 150 days (from 10,000 to 30,000 pesos, approximately).

People who cause the death of an animal will be punished with up to six years in prison. In case of using methods that prolong the agony of the animal, the penalties will increase up to 10 years in prison.
