The president indicated that the judicial decisions that are being made have to do with alleged political intentions, taking into account that the Council of State has already taken the presidency of Congress from his party, with the departure of Roy Barreras alluding to double militancy, and the following step would be to nullify the coalition votes.
Faced with this, one of the high command who came out to confront what the president said was the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa, who questioned Petro’s claims, launching strong accusations at him in the middle of an interview with Blu Radio.

Barbosa, one of the strongest opponents of the Government since Petro took office in August 2022, called the president irresponsible and pointed out that his words are not worthy of a president of the Republic, a position he indicated he would not be occupying in a good way.
“I think Gustavo Petro is irresponsible. He is a guy who has not assumed the role of President of the Republic with dignity and has not assumed it with dignity because one does not attack the Judicial Branch of public power ”, he indicated.

Similarly, the prosecutor stated that he agreed with the actions that are promulgated from within the Council of State, an entity that emphasized that it issues its decisions based on the legal norms that are promulgated in the country.
“Full support for the Council of State, which does not act politically, acts in accordance with legal norms, as the Supreme Court of Justice does, as the Constitutional Court does,” Barbosa asserted.
Likewise, the prosecutor expressed that the accusations launched by the president are completely irresponsible and that they can be taken as an attack against the institutions that establish judicial order in the country.
“It truly seems to me a complete abuse and irresponsibility of the President of the Republic to come to talk about the fact that now the Judicial Branch of public power, at the home of the Council of State, is proposing a soft coup against the institutions”
Barbosa invited Petro to read the provisions of the Political Constitution, in such a way that he knows the role of institutions such as the Council of State, the Constitutional Court, as well as the functions of the prosecutor, comptroller and attorney.
“It is a crash course in constitutional law so that he can understand very well what he is doing. He seems very serious to me and the fact that he attacks the Council of State in a treacherous, rude way does not generate any kind of dignity in his position, ”he assured.
For their part, the Council of State also responded to the president calling on him not to undermine judicial independence, alluding that the entity is based on the defense of legality and that the decisions that are promulgated therein are subject to the resources of law, as corresponds in a State of Law.
‘The Council of State must indicate that it does not consider that the expressions of the president are related to his decisions, since the Corporation has not issued administrative orders with the effects that he indicates. Also, it is allowed to remember, that the decisions issued by this Corporation, have no other purpose than rigorous compliance with the mission that the constituent imposed on it, ”says a part of the statement that they published on the morning of Monday, May 29, 2023.
