Just after midnight there was an explosion in the porch of a house on Taandersstraat in Rotterdam. No one was injured in that explosion, in the Spangen district. It is not known how the explosion came about, reports the police.

There were already more than 56 explosions at homes in Rotterdam this year, more than in the entire previous year. Mayor Aboutaleb said earlier this year that almost all of those explosions are related to drug crime. “About 60 percent of the cocaine in the port is intercepted. Then criminals start blaming each other. What you see now is that they are trying to catch someone by intimidating grandpa, grandma, sister or aunt with attacks.”

Shooting incident in Crooswijk-Kralingen

It was also restless elsewhere in the city. Around 1 a.m., the area around Berkelstraat in the eastern district of Crooswijk-Kralingen was shaken by a shooting incident. A 25-year-old resident of the city was hit in the leg. He was taken to hospital, his condition is unknown.

In both incidents, the police are still in the dark about the cause. Witnesses are requested to come forward.
