Erik ten Hag is pleased that Manchester United secured a ticket for the Champions League on Thursday evening thanks to a 4-1 win over Chelsea. The Dutch manager believes that the English superpower belongs in the ball of millions.
“This is a great achievement, especially in the Premier League,” Ten Hag told the English media afterwards. “There are so many strong clubs with great players who also want to go to the Champions League. So if you manage to do this, that’s great. United belongs in the Champions League.”
Goals from Casemiro, Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford gave United a 4-0 lead against Chelsea. The London club did something back just before time via João Félix. Due to the big win, number five Liverpool can no longer bridge the gap with United.
Ten Hag would have liked to win with bigger numbers at Old Trafford. “Chelsea did create some chances, but they also gave away many chances in the transition. We should have scored more goals. But we also gave them many opportunities. That should not happen, that must be better on our part.”

Ten Hag wants to close the season well
A blemish on the evening was Antony’s failure. The former Ajax player had to leave the field on a stretcher in the first half. “It looks like a serious injury,” said ten Hag. “We have to wait a day and then we will know more.”
United already won the League Cup this season, but Ten Hag’s team can win another cup next Saturday. Then the ‘Red Devils’ play the final of the FA Cup against city rivals and national champions Manchester City.
Ten Hag first wants to focus on the last league match against Fulham. “We want to finish the Premier League season well. Now Sunday is important. We can secure third place. We have to keep our rhythm and not get injured. Those are the goals next Sunday.”
