Today finally goes Renfield (2023) will premiere, with none other than Nicolas Cage taking on the role of Dracula. Nicholas Hoult plays his sidekick in the horror comedy, Renfield.
Lackey of Dracula
Renfield joins a support group to seek help for his toxic relationship with his boss. As Dracula’s lackey, he has to assist the count in all kinds of bizarre and especially bloody scenes, but above all he has to take care of victims, or rather: food. In return, Renfield has been given powers.
Chris McKay
The monster movie is directed by Chris McKay, known for movies like The Lego Movie (2014) in The Tomorrow War (2021). The script was written by Ryan Ridley, writer of series like Rick and Morty (2013– ).
In Bram Stoker’s original Dracula book, RM Renfield was an inmate of an insane asylum. He was thought to be suffering from delusions that forced him to eat living creatures in hopes of becoming immortal himself, until it was later revealed that he was under the influence of Count Dracula.
