Ajax announced the arrival of Kelvin de Lang as the new chief scout on Wednesday. The 42-year-old De Lang will come over from Manchester City this summer and will sign a contract until mid-2027.
De Lang succeeds Henk Veldmate, who returns to FC Groningen after seven years at Ajax. De Lang, partner of former top hockey star Ellen Hoog, is currently still working at Manchester City.
“We are happy that Kelvin has decided to sign with Ajax. He is the right person for this job,” says football affairs director Sven Mislintat on the Ajax site. “We were looking for a modern head scout with knowledge of the current international football world.”
“Kelvin knows what Ajax stands for. With the experience he has gained at City and his competences, he brings additional qualities to the current scouting team.”
From 2005 to 2017, De Lang held positions in scouting, recruiting and marketing at three different management agencies. The Amsterdam native left for Manchester City in 2017, where he joined the scouting organization of the current champion of England.
