Real Madrid will report to the Spanish police after a new racist incident with Vinícius Júnior. The star player of the Madrid club was discriminated against on Sunday during the away game against Valencia by a large part of the home team’s supporters.
According to Real, the incident in Estadio Mestalla constitutes a “direct attack on the social and democratic rule of law”. “For that reason, and given the seriousness of the events, Real Madrid has turned to the prosecution,” the club said in a statement on Monday.
The incident happened ten minutes before time. Vinícius was racially abused by the majority of fans. Supporters also threw objects at him. The left winger then went to get a story from part of the supporters.
Vinícius initially refused to continue playing. As a result, the match was halted for a while. Teammates then persuaded Vinícius to resume the game. Not much later he received a red card for a slamming movement during a disturbance.
It was not the first time this season that Vinícius was harassed by racist chants. Earlier he was also treated racist during matches against Real Mallorca, Atlético Madrid and Real Valladolid.

Vinícius quarrels with league leader
After the game, Vinícius again lashed out at the Spanish federation and the competition organization of La Liga. He thinks they both fall short in combating racism on the Spanish football fields.
“Racism is normal in La Liga,” Vinicius wrote on social media. “The competition thinks it’s normal, the association too and the opponents encourage it. I’m sorry. The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi, today belongs to racists.”
Vinicius’s accusations went down the wrong way with La Liga president Javier Tebas. “We have tried to explain to you what La Liga can do in these cases, but you failed to show up twice for an interview you requested,” he wrote. Twitter. “Before you criticize and insult La Liga, you should inform yourself.”
Vinícius quickly replied: “Instead of criticizing racists, the president of La Liga appears on Twitter to attack me. The image of your league is crumbling. Read all the comments.”
