Sainte Rita († 1457)

Remained in the memory of the Church as the saint of “desperate causes”, this Italian from Cascia, in Umbria, prays that her sons give up avenging their murdered father. His prayers are answered. She entered the Augustinians and was beatified in 1627 by Urban VIII, before being canonized a few centuries later, in 1900, by Pope Leo XIII.
