Juan Carralero affirmed that the Twitter posts in which he calls Sony Pictures Mexico “miserable” were fabricated by someone who hacked his account. Similarly, he assured that this way of describing the influencers who were selected by the aforementioned film studio as “upstarts” is not part of his usual form of expression either.

The dubbing actor spoke exclusively with Infobae México and explained the points for which he does not agree with the decisions made by Sony, but denies having disrespected any of those involved.
The whole thing began when Sony Pictures Mexico announced the group of people who will be part of the dubbing of the animated movie Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse. For the most part, the selection is made up of influencers and youtubers, which was widely criticized by many Internet users, as well as by Carralero through his Twitter account.
The actor who gives voice to the characters of Will Smith in Latin Spanish, commented that these tweets were not published on his own: “They investigated that yes, they had hacked me, what’s more, I went to see my account with someone and they told me ‘the yours is closed, but they did it then from another phone’”.

According to Carralero, there was no way to find out the identity of the person, because the phone number or the gadget could not be located, but they were able to find out that they did it through an Android system, from the Xochimilco delegation, near Tlalpan, to ten to four in the morning.
“So I did get quite upset because they are not my words, nor is it my way of expressing myself, nor going against the influencers, nor going against youtubers and fandubers. And less against Sony, ”said the actor, who is now afraid of the reprisals that this situation may have in his person.

Although the actor had already uploaded a video where he clarified the situation, many of his followers took it as a regret on his part. Although he denied the tweets, he nevertheless confirmed that he does not agree with Sony Pictures Mexico’s decision to hire influencers to voice the characters in his film.

“I do not agree that they hire people who have nothing to do with what dubbing is,” he said. “What we (the actors) want, and that’s why we complain, is that the company that sends to do the dubbing, be it Sony, whoever it is, or Netflix, use professional actors.”
Carralero explains that in this way the film in question can become more successful than the one in English: “I’ll give you the case of something I did, for example, Megamente was more successful in Spanish than in English, just like Roger Rabbit”.

Within the Sony selection for Spider-Man, are the influencers of social networks and YouTube, Javier Ibarreche, Alex Montiel, better known as ‘The Golden Scorpion’, Andrés Navy, Diana Su, Juan Guarnizo, among others. However, the voice of Megamind considers that they should receive classes before entering the world of dubbing.
“We educate ourselves to be actors, first actors and then dubbing actors, because first you have to learn acting, how to act, how to interpret, how to modulate your voice and I don’t think influencers and youtubers learn that very quickly,” he continued.
However, in his opinion, this situation is not the fault of the aforementioned influencers, but of “the company that hires them and the director who directs them.” He recounted that, in his experience, there have already been problems when the ‘star talents’ do not measure up at the time of doubling. “’Well, I don’t know how you do it, but he has to be in the movie’, that’s how they tell us”.
“Sony can hire whoever they want. In other words, the company has the right to hire whoever it wants, ”he continued. “That he is not an actor, that is another anger, that they will already have it when it is time to record.”

As an example, Carralero presented the case of Chayanne. The singer gave voice to one of the central characters in the Disney animated film Tangled, back in 2010. Next to him in the co-starring role was the actress and singer Danna Paola.
“Like the case of Chayanne, whom I respect a lot,” he said. “He is an excellent interpreter, but the movie he made of Tangled, something like that he called himself, because he lacked, he lacked a lot. He lacked directing and since he fell, the film fell with that ”.
In addition, for Juan Carralero, the Mexican public does not go to the movies to hear the voices of famous people, “even if they have put Chabelo, or even if they have put Brozo, or whoever they have put, or Chayanne himself, who is very famous, because the People don’t go for that,” he said.
The voice of Will Smith in Mexico considers that “we have a different idiosyncrasy” from the United States, where people do run to see the movie when they know that a famous actor will voice a character.
“Here in Latin America it is completely different. What people want is to have fun when they go to see the movie and they are not going to go because of the morbidity. Only some will go for the morbidity of listening to Luisito communicate, ”he said.
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse will hit Mexican movie theaters on June 1. Tickets are already on pre-sale at the two largest cinema chains in the country.
