Kumiko Kosaka came to trial accused of various crimes against minors
Two years after the start of the second trial of the Próvolo case, which began after allegations of sexual abuse against hard-of-hearing boys that occurred within that institute, the debate entered its final stage and this Friday the prosecution requested in the closing arguments a sentence of 25 years in prison for the nun Kumiko Kosaka. In addition, the prosecutor Alejandro Iturbide requested that she be disqualified for 10 years from holding educational and shelter positions where there are minors and where the control of the public authority is required.
Kosaka came before this instance accused of being the author of one act of aggravated seriously insulting sexual abuse and five acts of corruption of minors, and of being a necessary participant in the crime of continued aggravated seriously insulting sexual abuse and three acts of sexual abuse with access carnal aggravated.
The process, which has nine defendants in three simultaneous cases, began in May 2021 and since then 300 hearings have been held and more than 100 witnesses have testified.
