Two people were reported dead inside the mall.
On the afternoon of Sunday, May 14, 2023, users of social networks shared videos about a shooting that took place at the Unicentro Norte shopping center, located on 127th Street with Carrera 15, in the Usaquén neighborhood.

According to the official information that became known about the events, a man identified as Christian Camilo Rincón Díaz, an employee of a security company, entered an establishment in the shopping center in order to look for what would be his sentimental partner, Erika 26-year-old Lugo who worked in a local dedicated to the sale of food.
After arguing with Erika, the man took out the firearm with which he ended the woman’s life, in one more case of femicide; Later, he tried to end her life, so her body was left next to the woman’s. According to information shared by the National Police, the events occurred around 5:15 in the afternoon, when Christian arrived at the pizzeria where Erika worked as deputy administrator.

After arguing with the victim, the feminicide used a firearm with which he struck her twice at head height, which caused the woman’s immediate death. In a desperate attempt to end his life as well, Christian shot himself in the head, causing injury but not death.

The authorities also confirmed that upon arrival at the scene they found the alleged femicide alive, for which he was transferred to the Santa Fe Foundation where he is being treated under a reserved prognosis. The Police also confirmed that, presumably, today would not be the first time that Christian was looking for Erika in the shopping center to discuss, so they are investigating whether the alleged murderer had any insurance measure.

According to data, confirmed in a Twitter post by Mayor Claudia López, Christian worked for a security company, so this may be the reason why the femicide was armed.

Through an official statement, Unicentro Norte regretted what happened and assured that it will work together with the authorities to clarify the events that occurred inside the shopping center.
According to data shared by the Colombian Femicide Observatory, in 2022 a total of 614 women were murdered, figures that have not decreased in 2023, since as of March 3, 2023, 139 cases have been reported nationwide.
Other worrisome data has to do with the report delivered by the line of non-fatal violence cases compiled by the Institute of Legal Medicine in the first quarter of 2023, which totals 18,294 reports. Interpersonal and intrafamily violence also has the authorities concerned, since in the first quarter of 2023 there have been 517 more episodes than those known in the same period of 2022.
It was also known that of the cases that are registered, only 0.8% are in the trial stage, while 82.9% of the cases of gender violence have not advanced from the investigation stage in the General Prosecutor of the Nation.
