Merlo: passenger knocked out a bus driver and caused a crash
A new attack on a bus driver led to a strike of eight lines of the company Line 216 in the early hours of this Friday. Last night, the driver of a line 236 unit received a fist blow to the face from a passenger that made him lose consciousness and, therefore, control of the vehicle that ended up crashing into a truck.
The brutal aggression occurred last night minutes before 9:00 p.m. in the Buenos Aires town of Merlo, on route 1003. As a result of the incident, colleagues of the person attacked determined the measure of force for an indefinite period that affects lines 166, 236, 269, 395, 441, 443, 504 and 634.
As reported by the Primer Plano Online portal, it all originated when a passenger was dropped off at the terminal after falling asleep inside the bus that was finishing its daily journey. Angry with the situation, the attacker argued with police officers and with personnel from the 216 company who collaborated so that the person left the place.
The violent episode occurred in the town of Merlo, province of Buenos Aires.
The man walked away but got on another bus: inmate 106 on the same line that covers the Merlo-Morón route, in the western area of the Buenos Aires suburbs. Minutes later, in front of a Puma service station, the passenger threatened to go down through the front door and without saying a word he hit the driver in the face with a pineapple. The driver fainted as a result of the impact and the steering wheel was taken over by another passenger, but he was unable to prevent the unit from hitting a Renault Kangoo that was driving in the opposite direction. Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision, but the attacker fled.
Meanwhile, the bus driver was transferred to a clinic in the area. Then, the drivers determined the measure of force and so far eight bus lines are unemployed.
The latter was a particularly violent week for drivers after the crime of the bus driver Pedro Daniel Barrientos (55), which occurred in Virrey del Pino at the beginning of April.
Last Tuesday a driver of line 440 was finishing his night journey when he approached, without passengers, one of the bus terminals of the company La Primera de Grand Bourg SA
The driver attacked last Tuesday
It was almost the end of the journey and he was ready to resume it some 20 blocks from the Grand Bourg train station, in an area far from the center of that city belonging to the Malvinas Argentinas party, when he was approached by three criminals: “One with a revolver triggered me in the head three times and, when I saw that the bullet didn’t come out, I pounced: I gambled. And there they hit me on the head with the rifle butt, ”he recounted in radio statements. Finally they stole his personal documentation, a backpack with all his belongings, his cell phone and even his mate bag.
As a result of the recoil, the driver suffered deep cuts to his head, for which he was treated at the Malvinas Argentinas hospital, where six stitches were applied. “It was a lucky misfortune, but of all days”, announced one of the company delegates that that same morning they resolved the stoppage of 3 lines that were out of operation for 6 hours.
The following day, last Wednesday, a driver of line 276, in the town of Escobar, was shot in the leg by a passenger who tried to travel without paying the bus. While the attacker was arrested by the Police.
