Leicester City suffered an expensive loss of points on Monday in the fight against relegation. Fulham was 5-3 too strong at home for the number sixteen of the Premier League.
Fulham opened the score after ten minutes via Willian. After a foul by Dennis Praet, the attacker’s free kick bounced into the right corner.
Less than ten minutes later, Carlos Vinícius doubled the score. From a quick attack, the former PSV attacker hit the far corner. Just before half-time, Vinícius was again important with an assist to Tom Cairney, who made it 3-0.
While the Leicester fans were still recovering from the 3-0, Cairney fired his second goal of the game against the ropes in the 55th minute. The assist came in the name of Dutchman Kenny Tete.
Leicester later did something back through Harry Barnes with the 4-2, after which the visitors had the chance to get back into the game with a penalty, but James Vardy encountered a strong goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Via a goal from Willian (5-1), a converted penalty from James Maddison (5-2) and a nice ticker from Barnes, the goal feast ended in 5-3.
Relegation concerns are increasing for Leicester. Dean Smith’s team is in sixteenth place with 30 points. The differences with three rounds to go are very small in the lower region of the Premier League. Fulham is in tenth place.
Later in the day, relegation candidates Nottingham Forest, Everton and Southampton also play.
