Train traffic between Groningen Europapark and Assen will be restarted after it came to a standstill earlier on Saturday due to a subsidence of the platform at Haren station.
This was due to heavy rainfall in the place, ProRail said earlier. The platforms have been released again, the final recovery of the subsidence will “take place later”.
The Dutch Railways used stop buses between Groningen and Assen to get travelers to their destination. The KNMI previously announced code yellow for Groningen until 6 p.m. due to “severe thunderstorms”.
Photos from RTV Noord, among others, show that the bicycle and pedestrian tunnel at Haren station is flooded. Photos of flooded streets in Haren also appear on social media.
