DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Germán Márquez on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow inflammation.
The measure is retroactive to Thursday.
Márquez left his start Wednesday against Cleveland after experiencing sharp pain in his elbow in the bottom of the fourth inning while throwing his 58th pitch.
The Venezuelan was making his first start since April 10, when he left a game against St. Louis with a stiff right forearm problem.
The next day, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Marquez is 2-2 with a 4.95 ERA in four starts this season. He is two strikeouts away from matching Jorge de la Rosa, who holds the franchise record with 985.
Right-hander Connor Seabold was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill Márquez’s spot on the roster.
