Almost thirty migrants rescued by the humanitarian vessel Ocean Viking disembarked this Sunday in the city of Bari, in southern Italy. 24 hours earlier, another 500 migrants disembarked in Sicilian ports, the arrivals of hundreds of people seeking to enter the European Union through the Mediterranean do not stop and there are no clear solutions in sight to solve this migration crisis.
Most come from countries in conflict like Sudan, they prefer to face the unknown waters than the violence that plagues their towns.
According to the latest data published by the Italian Ministry of the Interior, since the beginning of the year 33,480 migrants have arrived on the Italian shores, a figure well above those registered in 2022 and 2021, which did not even reach 9,000 arrivals, although the authorities consider important numbers.
The Government of Italy has declared a state of emergency to avoid this new wave of migration.
