The urban transport companies of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) will again suspend the service between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for inflation.
As indicated by the business chambers to Infobae, all the bus lines under federal jurisdiction will be affected —that is, the one in the City of Buenos Aires—, the national lines —which go from CABA to the province and from province to CABA—; in addition to the communal and provincial lines: that is, from the lines that go from 1 to 799. “All the buses are going to stop working and there will be no transportation,” they specified.
It is worth remembering that the measure of force —with the same impact in the AMBA region— was also carried out during the last hours of Tuesday and all of Wednesday morning. It was between 9 pm and 5 am.
Although at first the cessation of the provision of the service had only been announced for Wednesday, in the early hours of Tuesday it was decided to bring it forward. “The decision was made moments ago due to the non-compliance of the compensations that continues by the national, provincial and the City of Buenos Aires governments,” they commented on the matter from the business chambers.
“Until yesterday the debt was 31,000 million pesos and at the last minute the province of Buenos Aires paid a figure close to 7,000 million, therefore the debt that they maintain today is 24 billion pesos, which makes it unfeasible for us to continue circulating regularly ”, they specified from the cameras.
The claim demands the payment to the provincial, Buenos Aires and national governments of the updates committed by the subsidy items, as a result of the effects of the inflation process that the country is experiencing, they pointed out. Before the announcement in which the measure was advanced, the companies involved had issued a statement in which they explained the reasons for the claim.

“The business entities of public passenger transport by automobile that sign this document alert the population to the considerable delay verified in the accreditation of the funds for the fare compensation corresponding to the higher costs incurred during the current year,” they indicated at the time.
The document was signed by CEAP (Cámara Empresaria de Autotransporte de Pasajeros), CETUBA (Business Chamber of Urban Transport of Buenos Aires), CTPBA (Chamber of Transport of the Province of Buenos Aires), AAETA (Argentine Association of Automobile Transport Entrepreneurs) and CEUTUPBA (Chamber of United Entrepreneurs of Urban Passenger Transport of Buenos Aires).

Mario Vacca, head of the Chamber of Urban Transport Entrepreneurs of Buenos Aires (Cetuba), announced the reasons for the measure of force. “The calculation of the costs, which had been calculated every six months, is very behind, but with this level of inflation it is complicated,” he explained.
“Until the first quarter of this year, the full subsidies were collected, but with the cost calculations made with the prices of August 2022. Although the cost prices were updated in February, with those of December, that difference was not They still paid to date,” Vacca said in dialogue with Radio Miter.
Likewise, he said that the price of the costs required by the service should be updated again. “In addition, there are costs that would have to be recalculated, because from December to now we already have more than 21% inflation. So there comes a time for companies when their resources begin to run out, they begin by not renewing, then they begin to request credits with AFIP, they start to fall behind with suppliers, with fuel and there comes a time when the resources They run out,” he said.

“There is no money to provide all the services. Companies are desperate and trying to do what they can. That is why we announce that tomorrow (Wednesday), between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., we are going to rationalize. The schedule is because in the morning we take people to work, in the afternoon we bring them back but that schedule, commonly called ‘valley hours’, we are going to reduce the services to try to save some of the cost of providing the service totally,” he said.
Likewise, the head of Cetuba announced the scope of the measure. “We have affiliates that are only from the Capital (City of Buenos Aires), others that go from the Capital to the Province of Buenos Aires and others that work entirely within the province,” he explained.
