With or without popcorn. With family, alone or accompanied. To have fun, to end tedium or to become the ultimate version of sofa, movie and blanket Sundays. For fans of animation, independent cinema or the essential releases of the year, the Film Festival returns.
With the aim of promoting culture and the industry, for four days Spanish movie theaters will enjoy the best new releases with tickets at a reduced price: 3.50 euros each. It will be on Monday the 15th, Tuesday the 16th, Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th of May. During the designated days, viewers will be able to choose between all the films that are available on the billboard.
The initiative celebrates its twentieth edition with the aim of attracting the lagging public that, since the pandemic, has not visited theaters regularly or, due to work or lack of time, cannot find the ideal moment to enjoy stories that transport them to universes alien The first Film Festival was organized in 2009 and its history has only been interrupted with the appearance of Covid-19. The company has also renewed its brand image on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary.
Spectators must obtain their accreditation on the official website. Those over 60 and under 14 years of age will not need to be accredited to be able to get their tickets. Said accreditation can now be requested from the page of the organization.
For the Marie Kondo of life, people capable of keeping their agenda up to date and who do not move from home if the plans do not include a reservation, tickets can be purchased in advance from Wednesday, May 10. They can do it from the web pages of the cinemas or at the box office itself. Don’t forget to set an alarm or a reminder if you don’t want to run out of them!
With the good boost that the premiere of Super Mario Bros. has brought at the global box office -becoming, in addition, the best collection data so far in 2023 in Spanish cinemas-, this new edition of the Film Festival seeks improve the claim of the rooms.
The 19th Film Festival, held in October 2022, brought together 1,291,799 spectators, 82.2% more than the previous edition, the first to be held since 2019 due to the health crisis. Then, only 704,827 viewers went to the cinema, a decrease of 1.5 million compared to the pre-pandemic edition. Little by little, Spanish cinemas are recovering their muscle and the XX Film Festival seeks to boost audience figures and revive interest in making cinema an essential communal experience.
