This Tuesday a report circulated about the alleged death of “Changoleón”, a character who rose to fame on Mexican television at the hands of Facundo in the 2000s.
And it is that Samuel González Quiroz became popular when the irreverent driver invited him to be part of his missing programs Toma libre and Incognito, where he showed his condition as a homeless man with alcoholism problems.
It was in one of Facundo Gómez’s capsules for his program where he generally carried out jokes, sketches and opinion polls in the streets, that the television host found Changoléon in the streets of the Coyoacán neighborhood in Mexico City.

After inviting him to eat, going around in a limousine and broadcasting the result on open television, Samuel’s attitude and his witticisms captivated the viewers, which ended in the man’s permanent incorporation into the show that was broadcast at night on the signal of Channel 5 of Televisa.
“We have a limousine, some girls, a bowling alley, the table… and we said ‘better in the limousine let’s start putting people in’, as soon as we said that we saw Changoleón, we said ‘do you pull with us? Of hairs ‘… he is a homeless person who lives on the street, he has no home, he is always shitting, pissing, vomiting, hungry, mad, drinking Tonayan, chemo, he got on with us and was very shitty. There was a time when he became more famous than me, ”Facundo recounted in 2021 on Roberto Martínez’s YouTube channel.
Changoleón was gaining popularity in the broadcast that was broadcast from 2005 to 2008 and went from being an extra to being the protagonist of sketches at the hands of Facundo, with whom he stopped seeing each other after the program was canceled and Samuel went back to the anonymity of the streets.
But far from the man’s scruffy image lies his quirky personal life. Born in Toluca, State of Mexico, according to the man of today, 80 years old, in his youth he came to teach at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the reasons that led González Quiroz to change his student life for the street are unknown. although it is rumored that it was the consequence of a love disappointment.

“I was a teacher at the Faculty of Psychology in the area of clinical psychology, I taught Diagnostics at CU; I’m a graduate but you know what? I had to put people to sleep and that doesn’t bother me because I take their cross with me and I can’t, I barely can with mine… I entered college in ’78 and came out as a graduate and I don’t owe any subject but I didn’t like it, for I grab that and become an artisan, I had a bush (long hair)”, the man told El Universal in 2005.
After false rumors of his death, in May 2021 Samuel reappeared and surprised by looking completely different. Through El tag show con Gipsy, a Badabun program, Changoleón was seen in Acapulco where he now resides and declared that he had been sober for a year then and taking care of his health.

He said that he continued to live in a precarious situation, selling shoes and handicrafts. “I raised Facundo’s rating,” said the man who at the beginning of his participation in Incognito offered him 50 pesos per program as his first salary, an amount he rejected and then they gave him 500 pesos: “Me asking for more money together” .
Regarding the driver who presented him on television, this is how the enigmatic man described him: “Facundo is very simple, he is very noble, I know his house… Facundo, I send you a hug and a very fraternal greeting, very moved and at the same time with some feelings that thanks to the voice I knew your greatness, you worked at the level of the people, I raised your rating ”, he expressed.
