This spring, the inspiring story of boxer George Foreman comes to the big screen with Big George Foreman (2023). Sony just unveiled the trailer, starring Atlanta actor Khris Davis.
Boxer and preacher
The upcoming film will follow Foreman’s boxing career, including his Olympic gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Games and his career as a world heavyweight champion. After his boxing career, he became a pastor, but eventually returned to the ring at the age of 45 when his family and church ran into financial difficulties. He became the oldest boxer in history to claim the title of heavyweight champion.
Forest Whitaker plays Doc Broadus, the boxer’s old trainer who introduced him to the sport. Khris Davis takes on the role of Foreman, with Sullivan Jones set to play Muhammad Ali. The true-life boxing film is directed by George Tillman Jr., who previously Faster (2010) in The Hate U Give (2018) with Dwayne Johnson.
