Households that have a motorcycle, 87.62% use it exclusively for the home, while 0.52% use it exclusively for work and 11.86% for home and work.
The Chamber of Motorcycle Manufacturers (Cafam) and the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (Acara) reported that sales of new motorcycles increased in March, based on the number of patents. A large part of the shots are of national origin, as has been the case for a few years.
During the last month, close to 48,044 thousand units were patented, which meant a significant increase in relation to the numbers of February and the same time of the previous year, when 42,341 were patented. These data show an interannual growth of 13.5 percent.
In relation to the second month of the year, growth reaches 35 percent, since 35,584 units were registered. However, from Acara they clarified that there is a difference between the business days of March and February, which were 22 and 18, respectively, so the gap between the two figures may be linked to this situation.
Thus, the sector already reached a good start to the year, as it marked growth compared to the first quarter of 2022. During the first three months of 2023, 124,791 motorcycles were patented, while in the same period of the previous year the number it was 110,060. The growth was 13.4 percent.

According to the information from Cafam that Télam was able to access, 94 percent of the motorcycles patented during the month of March were of national origin, while only the remaining 6 percent correspond to imported vehicles. This is a trend that has been happening since 2016.
Consequently, the president of Cafam, Lino Stefanuto, considered it “fundamental to continue the dialogue with the national government to achieve consensus regarding the continuity of the national integration regime.” “Agreeing on a viable scheme for the coming years, which allows manufacturers to make investments, generate employment and follow a path of sustainable growth of national production,” he mentioned.
In addition to making a balance on the number of patented motorcycles, the organizations specified which were the most chosen by buyers during the month of March, among which those with low displacement stand out, that is, 21,053 of 110 cc and 7,068 of 150 cc .
Of the total number of motorcycles patented in March, the province of Buenos Aires was the first in the ranking of jurisdictions where the most units were registered with 15,301, followed by Santa Fe with 4,686 and Córdoba with 4,442, according to information from Cafam. .

In relation to the chosen brands, Acara indicated that some changes were observed in the top positions. Despite the fact that Honda remained in the market with 9,547, Coven took second place with 7,004 units, thus surpassing Motomel, leaving it in third place, since 6,787 motorcycles of this brand were registered. Then Gilera and Zanella placed fourth, a company that managed to stay third for much of 2022.
If these statistics are compared with those of the previous month, some variants on the most patented model were also identified, since Coven Energy dethroned the historic Honda Wave 110, leader of previous years that was comfortably positioned at the top of the ranking, but he failed in March and came in second. In the third place of the most chosen models, the Gilera Smash climbed to this place and left the Motomel B110 in fourth position. The Keller KN 110-8, on the other hand, remains stable within the top five of the preferred models.
