A man from France, who had killed his neighbor’s cat in 2022, was sentenced to two months in prison after admitting the facts.
The sexagenarian had committed the irreparable act in February 2022, in a city northwest of Marseille, France.
The owner of the killed cat had gone in the morning to greet his neighbor, but he made a macabre discovery. Her cat was bloody and unconscious.
Horrified to have found his cat in a lamentable state, the owner questions his neighbor about what could have led to the feline’s injuries.
Quite simply, the neighbor admits to him having killed his cat, because he came “too often” on his land.
Exhausted, the 65-year-old man took his rifle to put an end to the days of the poor feline.
The next day, the suspect did it again by injuring his neighbour’s second cat in the eye.
Taken to the vet after the incident, the cat will lose sight in one eye moments later.
Immediately, the owner of the two abused cats filed a complaint with the local police.
Sentence
After being arrested, the sexagenarian of the city of Moussac revealed how he proceeded to trap cats.
He would set up “trap-cages” and then shoot the cats with a bullet to the head.
In total, the Frenchman admitted to having injured and killed the two cats. Found guilty, the man was sentenced to two months in prison.
He will serve his sentence at home and will have to wear an electronic bracelet. His weapons were also confiscated.
The court ordered him to hand over more than 2,200 euros ($3,224) to an animal protection association.
