WhatsApp messages would compromise the president of the republic, Dina Boluarte, with the investigated Henry Shimabukuro.
The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) opened an investigation into the alleged campaign contributions that the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, would have received from the questioned businessman Henry Shimabukuro, which allegedly were not declared.

As part of the process, the agency requested -through an official letter- from Maritza Sánchez Perales, former adviser to the president, the evidence that she would possess regarding the aforementioned contributions that Shimabukuro would have given during said campaign.
“I am writing to you, in relation to the information provided in the media, related to the knowledge that you claim to have, regarding the campaign contributions that would have been granted by Mr. Shimabukuro Guevara Henry Augusto, to the candidacy of Mrs. Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra”, the document reads.

In said official letter, the ONPE makes the request by virtue of the powers of supervision and control of the financial economic information that it holds as an electoral body.
“In the framework of what is established in subsection 2 of article 255 of the Single Ordered Text of the General Administrative Procedure Law, Law No. 27444, we would appreciate it if you would provide the requested information within a period of five business days following the receipt of this communication”, adds the ONPE.
