Choir singers from all over Madrid have gathered in front of the Reina Sofía museum to sing for peace in Ukraine and around the world.
A highly symbolic place in the capital of Spain since this museum houses the famous “Guernica” by Pablo Picasso”, a pictorial plea that denounces the cruelty of the fights. The painting painted in Paris between the months of May and June 1937 alludes to the bombing of the Basque city of Guernica, which occurred on April 26 of that year, during the Spanish Civil War.
“We are brothers, we are relatives, we are friends,” adds the Ukrainian singer Elvira Polyenova.
The event was organized last year for the first time.
The choirs are the “perfect instrument to send messages of unity and peace”, according to the coordinator of the event, Mariano García.
