Micha Wertheim is hosting the New Year’s Eve conference on NPO 1 this year. The comedian shared the news on Twitter. The 50-year-old Wertheim has never been responsible for the New Year’s Eve conference before.

The conference will be called Voor Twaalven, according to the playlist on the site of Wertheim’s agency. Nothing is known about the content yet. His agent only writes: “The time has finally come, your favorite cabaret artist, who is not understood by others, but who you can appreciate, can close the old year on NPO 1”. The try-outs will start at the beginning of November.

Wertheim made his breakthrough at the Leids Cabaret Festival in 2004 by winning both the jury and the audience prize. He now has eleven cabaret shows to his name. Wertheim also wrote several children’s books.

The New Year’s Eve conference on NPO 1, produced by broadcaster BNNVARA, was hosted by Claudia de Breij for the third time last year. Comedian Guido Weijers has been the regular choice at RTL for years when it comes to the New Year’s Eve conference. Last year, Weijers closed the year with commercial broadcasting for the eleventh time.
