President Dina Boluarte spoke through the official account of the Presidency of the Republic about the latest statements by Pedro Castillo’s former presidential adviser, Henry Shimabukuro. In this sense, they stated that the revelations by the former official only intend to “stain” his management.
“The president emphatically rejects this dark political maneuver that seeks to stain the constitutional government, democracy and the institutional framework, with statements and without evidence,” the tweet read.
In addition, they specified that Shimabukuro seeks to “distract” the investigations that are being followed by the Public Ministry for the case of the ‘Shadow Cabinet’, who some of them financed the presidential campaign, but the former official also claims to have paid Dina’s expenses. “He points out that it is evident that Mr. Shimabukuro intends to distract or divert attention from the process he has before the National Prosecutor’s Office for being part of the” shadow cabinet “that he shared with the prisoner Pedro Castillo today,” they added.
The head of state reiterated that the financing made by Shimabukuro is given to the Peru Libre party, but not to her candidacy as vice president in the 2021 electoral campaign.
“If Mr. Shimabukuro has collaborated or financed party activities, he has done so absolutely personally and without agreeing to any commitment, as stated in his own statements,” he said.
In turn, he assured that he did not ask for any kind of favor from Shimabukuro or from other people. This after the former adviser assured that she did take charge of the president’s expenses when she was on the campaign trail.
“There has been no type of negotiation, request or favor on the part of Mrs. Dina Boluarte. The then vice-presidential candidate has not received any money from that man, or from anyone else, ”she reads.
