The former president of the Council of Ministers, Betssy Chávez, spoke about the failed self-coup by Pedro Castillo on December 7. The lawyer is also being accused of rebellion and conspiracy, but she denies her participation and that she has prepared the message to the Nation. In addition, she assures that she will not retire from politics.

“No, I have not written it, it is not my pen. (…) Definitely, it wasn’t me. (…) The president tells us before that it is an official activity and before he tells us a message to the Nation, ”he told Punto Final.

The former minister also assured that there are no specific functions when being premier, after being consulted by the reception of journalists so that they transmit the message in an open signal. Likewise, she denied that days before she had “conspired” a coup d’état.

“I told him president, it is a complicated decision and I went out to find where and who would have written the speech,” said the former owner.

The former premier assured that she will not retire from politics, despite the “problems” she has had in her entry. In addition, she confirmed that she will support the former president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, before an eventual nomination.

“You think that politics is an affair. The politician is for life. How would it be, I don’t imagine that one enters politics at one point and there is a complex situation and they run away, ”she says.

“I am going to support Dr. Aníbal Torres in an upcoming electoral feat. I don’t know if it was on his plate, but I do genuinely support him, because President Pedro Castillo has asked me to and I have to comply with what the President has asked me to do, ”he reveals.

He did not rule out the creation of a new political party, because he assures that he was unable to talk with Torres after the measures with restricted appearances for them to communicate. “He would go to the head. Of course. Look, I do not aspire to be president of the Republic, ”she added.

Chávez specified that he did not have and does not have a friendship with President Dina Boluarte, because the president would not have participated in the electoral campaign of the first round.

The National Prosecutor’s Office would be preparing a request for preventive detention after the Congress of the Republic votes in favor of the suspension as a legislator. In other words, if the request is approved by the Judiciary, the ex-premier could go to jail. However, she said that she is not “afraid”.

“It is a probability that I could carry out, but I am not afraid of prison,” he says.
