In Poole Harbour, in the southern English region of Dorset, about 200 barrels of reservoir fluid leaked into the water on Sunday. According to the managers of Poole Harbor (PHC), the cause is a leak in a pipeline, the BBC reports.
Reservoir fluid can contain all kinds of oil. The PHC has therefore activated the “oil disaster plan”. That means the leaking pipeline has been shut down, with booms on either side of the leak.
In addition, companies specialized in combating oil leaks have been called in. “Anyone who has come into contact with the spill should wash immediately with soap and water. If the eyes have come into contact with cloudy water, they should be rinsed with water,” the PHC said.
