Netanyahu protected by the Israeli parliament.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahuyou will not have to resign while you are tried for corruption.
In a heated all-night session on Wednesday, Israel’s Parliament voted 61 to 47 to approve a rule barring the Supreme Court from forcing a prime minister to take “leave” or resign over conflict of interests.
The law is part of the government’s controversial judicial reform, which has sparked massive protests by citizens who see judicial independence in jeopardy.
The reform aims to give the government full control over the appointment of judges, including those of the Supreme Court. The protests began three months ago over fears that the far-right coalition government would push Israel towards autocracy.
