The Minister for Women, Nancy Tolentino, confirmed on Tuesday the capture of Sergio Tarache Parra (19), who last Saturday opened fire on a young woman near Dos de Mayo square, in downtown Lima.

“It is a terrible case. (The aggressor) is already in custody and the Public Prosecutor’s Office is supporting today the request for preventive detention for nine months. Let’s hope there is an exemplary sanction, ”he remarked in an interview with TV Peru.
The macho attack occurred on block 1 of Óscar Benavides Avenue. In images broadcast on social networks, it is observed when the victim of an attempted femicide vanishes in the middle of the flames.

The young woman is admitted to the Arzobispo Loayza hospital, with second and third degree burns on 60% of her body. “Violence, in all its expressions, against women has not stopped, nor has it stopped in the pandemic and even less so now. Unfortunately, the cases occur throughout the country,” lamented Tolentino.

The young woman had met Terache on a street near Dos de Mayo square to talk about their love affair. However, after learning of her decision, she was brutally attacked and remained in extremis for at least ten minutes.
According to official figures, since 2022, the country has registered more than 557 cases of attempted femicide. A high percentage of the victims have not yet found justice, since the alleged aggressors have not received restrictive measures. The Aurora portal reported that, since that date, only an average of 40% of the attackers have been detained by the authorities.
