Good morning! The CDA is meeting for crisis consultations after last week’s disappointing election results, and in the United States a possible arrest warrant against former president Trump is being looked at with excitement.
First the weather: today it is cloudy and wet at first. A few showers will fall this afternoon and the sun will break through, especially in the west. With a moderate to fairly strong southwest wind, it will be 11 to 13 degrees.

What can you expect today?
Parliamentary parties are meeting for the first time since last week’s elections and discuss their course in the changed political relationships. The CDA is holding crisis consultations after the disappointing election results. Groningen earthquake victims are visiting Limburg flood victims today. Both parties are angry with The Hague because of the problems with the claims handling. Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting Russia for the second day. He is expected to speak with President Putin about the Chinese proposal to end the conflict in Ukraine. A phone call between Xi and Ukrainian President Zelensky may also be planned.
What did you miss?
A vote of no confidence in President Macron’s government just failed to pass in the French parliament. The motion was tabled because Macron pushed through the controversial pension plans last week by bypassing parliament. The retirement age will now increase from 62 to 64 years.
If the motion had been passed, the government would have fallen and the pension plan would have been wiped out. There is great dissatisfaction with the reform in France: in the country the current pension system is seen as social law. For months there have been protests and strikes against the pension measure.

Dutch winegrowers harvested a record amount of grapes in 2022. They were able to make more than 9800 hectoliters of wine, 30 percent more than in 2021. The reason: the warm summer and the number of hours of sunshine. Moreover, people prefer to drink wine from grapes from Bentelo than from Chile, says a Twente winegrower.
