Vancouver Whitecaps FC drew 1-1 on their visit to the LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy and Whitecaps FC tied 1-1 in the duel corresponding to week 4 of the United States – MLS 2023 tournament, at the Dignity Health Sports Park stadium.

With a goal from Tristan Blackmon, they began by winning the visit at the beginning of the first half, however, at 48 minutes into that stage, Kelvin Leerdam managed to equalize for the locals.

At 84 minutes into the second half, Ranko Veselinovic had a chance to put his team ahead, but the shot hit one of the posts.

The best man of the match was Tristan Blackmon. Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender had a good level scoring 1 goal and clearing 3 dangerous balls.

Kelvin Leerdam was also key. The LA Galaxy defender had a good level, scoring 1 goal and clearing 2 dangerous balls.

The match was cut short due to the number of fouls committed by both teams. There were several cautioned: Ranko Veselinovic, Javain Brown, Ryan Raposo, Mathías Laborda and Raheem Edwards.

LA Galaxy manager Greg Vanney proposed a 4-5-1 formation with Jonathan Bond in goal; Kelvin Leerdam, Jalen Neal, Martín Cáceres and Raheem Edwards on the defensive line; Gastón Brugman, Efraín Álvarez, Mark Delgado, Riqui Puig and Tyler Boyd in the middle; and Dejan Joveljic in attack.

For its part, Vanni Sartini’s team took to the field with a 4-4-2 scheme with Yohei Takaoka under the three sticks; Ryan Raposo, Tristan Blackmon, Ranko Veselinovic and Javain Brown on defense; Brian White, Andrés Cubas, Julian Gressel and Ryan Gauld in midfield; and Sergio Córdova and Cristian Dájome up front.

Referee Víctor Rivas was in charge of supervising the game at the Dignity Health Sports Park stadium.

On the following date, the LA Galaxy will face the Portland Timbers as a visitor, while Whitecaps FC will play as a visitor against Minnesota United.
