ANPBBB leader Caroline van der Plas on election night
NOS Nieuws•vandaag, 22:41
In the latest prognosis, BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) climbs to 17 seats in the Senate. D66 drops back to 5 seats. According to the ANP, this appears after counting almost all votes for the Provincial Council elections.
BBB, the big winner of the election, was on 15 seats in the first Ipsos exit polls on election night. Later that grew to 16 and now the ANP reports that another seat has been added to the provisional result.
The decline of D66 makes it more difficult for the coalition in the senate to go ‘over the left’. When D66 still had 6 seats, the coalition (VVD, D66, CDA and CU) together with PvdA/GroenLinks had a narrow majority of 38 seats in the Senate. If the current prognosis comes true, and D66 gets stuck at 5, that will no longer be enough.
The new prognosis is calculated on the basis of the provisional results of all municipalities, on 95 percent of the votes counted in Amsterdam and the provisional results of Dutch people living abroad, which the municipality of The Hague announced today.
