Ken Salazar praised the hiring of an American x-ray company by Sedena to take care of customs

Ken Salazar, United States ambassador to the country, celebrated that customs on the border between Mexico and the northern country will be strengthened as a result of the million-dollar contract that the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) awarded to the company Rapiscan System.

The contract will allow the installation of X-ray technology equipment for surveillance and inspection and to prevent the trafficking of illicit material such as drugs and firearms.

“Our governments are committed to achieving a 21st century border, one that is more modern, safer and more efficient,” he said.

“We are pleased that the Mexican government has made the decision to continue strengthening our cooperation and coordination at the border through the tender won by the American company Rapiscan Systems,” he wrote through a statement posted on his Twitter account.

In the same way, he referred to the President of the Mexican Republic and the President of the United States, saying: “A commitment endorsed by President Joe Biden and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at their historic meeting in Mexico, as well as at the Leaders’ Summit from North America. For this reason, the United States government makes a historic investment in our borders of 3.4 million dollars”.

He also celebrated that the acquisition of this technology will help deepen efforts to combat drug, arms and people trafficking, as well as better protect the two nations. Well, to the extent that the United States and Mexico coordinate on the border, the greater the shared security will be.

He said that the joint work between the two countries (the United States and Mexico) always has benefits for the nations: “In different entry points I have verified that when our governments work in a coordinated manner, we reduce waiting times, trade between our countries is expedited and we help care for the environment with the reduction of greenhouse gases”.

This technological renewal, which is the most important purchase of the customs system in its modern history, will positively affect the 21 border customs. These are teams that will non-intrusively check vehicles.
