The digital queue for applying for the STAP budget already had about 250,000 people waiting a few minutes after the counter opened, the UWV executive body reports.
Anyone aged eighteen or older could apply for a STAP training budget of 1,000 euros from 10 a.m. on Friday.
A spokesperson for UWV explains that this concerns 250,000 logged-in devices. The total number of people who have to wait can be smaller, because you can try with your laptop and smartphone at the same time, for example.
Many people get the message that they have to wait over an hour before they can proceed with their application. The UWV advises people not to log out. “It is really better for people to stay in the queue. We handle about three hundred requests per minute, so it really takes a few hours before the budget is used up.”
Earlier this month, the application procedure went completely wrong. Due to the large number of people who wanted to log in and a technical error, the STAP budget site was inaccessible.
In this round, 34 million euros can be distributed. This year, the government will allocate a total of 170 million euros for subsidies that are intended to strengthen people’s position on the labor market.
