On the afternoon of March 15, the death of a person was recorded in the Medical Tower of the Mayorca Shopping Center. The death, as reported by the Sabaneta Mayor’s Office, would have been caused by inhalation of a substance, until now, unknown. In fact, four other people were affected, one of these is in the intensive care unit.

According to information from El Colombiano, the deceased responds to the name of Luis Carlos Aguirre, 68, who after attacking his former sentimental partner, threw the chemical substance on himself that caused his death. As updated by Telemedellín, the woman, who would have been around 40 years old, was attacked at her workplace, from where Aguirre, after exposing himself to the same chemical agent, tried to escape, upon reaching the third floor of the tower he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest that caused him death.
From the shopping center they confirmed, as quoted in El Tiempo, the death of the man: “The attacker fainted on the third floor of Stage 2 and was immediately attended by brigade members from the Shopping Center to provide first aid; and later by paramedical personnel who answered the call. However, the man died minutes after being treated.

For his part, the Secretary of Security of Sabaneta, Mariano Atehortúa, reported that the woman was transferred to the Las Américas clinic in Envigado, explaining that “at the time of being transferred to this institution, one of the officials of the fire department who were the first responders and is affected by this chemical agent, at this moment the ex-sentimental partner of this man is out of danger if she is in a very delicate state of health.
According to information from Caracol Radio, upon arriving at the Las Américas del Sur clinic, in the municipality of Envigado, the woman had to undergo resuscitation and advanced care, after which she was transferred to the intensive care unit. At the close of this note, her prognosis is reserved.

The clinic reported that “the healthcare and medical personnel who attended the case presented symptoms of intoxication such as headache, vomiting and dizziness; which also forced their attention, at the moment they are under observation and treatment in stable condition ”.
The clinic issued this statement around 3:35 pm on March 15.
Following the attack with the unknown substance, the mall’s Medical Tower was closed so it could be decontaminated. It was also known that the Sabaneta hospital declared an orange alert. The others affected, a firefighter and two police officers, are recovering at the Venancio Díaz Díaz de Sabaneta hospital, Secretary Atehortúa reported.
