Gary Glitter was sent back to prison on Monday a month after his release. The 78-year-old singer, who was convicted of sexually assaulting minors, has violated the terms of his release.
Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was captured on a phone last weekend. Footage shows him asking how to find the dark web. The dark web is a part of the internet that is not easily accessible. It is used, among other things, for the online trade in weapons and child pornography.
Glitter was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2015 for abusing three underage girls. At the beginning of February, the British singer was released for good behavior. He had served half of his prison sentence.
Upon his release, the British Ministry of Justice said it was keeping a close eye on him. Glitter was subject to “the strictest restrictions” that could be imposed. Police were able to determine his location using GPS.
Glitter was especially famous in the 1970s for his hit Rock ‘n’ Roll, among other things. That song became popular again after it was used in the movie Joker in the scene where the title character dances down a stone staircase.
